The Bit Specialist will have a variety of snaffle and double bridle bits for clinic participants to try during their sessions. They will measure the horse’s mouth and look at the shape and overall anatomy of mouth to help determine the best type of bit for the horse. The goal is to find the bit that the horse is the most comfortable in and the horse demonstrates this pretty clearly. Typically horses become better in the mouth and become softer and swing more in their bodies when the right bit is found. We also see happier riders, as there is a better and more harmonious connection between horse and rider.

Shannnon Waters has trained countless horses and riders from Training level to Grand Prix. The many horses she has trained to the FEI levels and competed successfully on include Pegasus, Amazing, and Ringo Starr. Shannon has been long listed for the Canadian Olympic Team twice.

A physiotherapist, licensed Trainer A instructor and judge for dressage and show jumping, she gives lectures and seminars throughout the world, including at the prestigious German Riding Academy in Warendorf. She is a native of England where she competes at the international level. She is the author of two books on the biomechanics of riding: Your Friend, My Friend and Seat, Legs, Hands.
